Bio
I was one of those students. The ones who enjoyed homework. The ones who would happily sacrifice play time to get one more precious hour of studying in. The ones who were first into class and last out. I enjoyed school, worked very hard, and had the opportunity to experience success. As I grew older and began to recognize that this was not the case for all of my peers, I instantaneously developed a stalwart commitment to provide any and all support that I could. I began volunteering to be a tutor in Middle School, and that is where my professional education journey really began. I never looked back...

In the ensuing years I sought out opportunities wherever they could be found. In High School I again volunteered to be a tutor during my freshman year, which allowed me to focus my efforts on individual subjects while also developing and refining my own academic interests. After graduating High School and enrolling at UC Davis as a Biochemistry major I immediately sought out a position in their peer tutoring program. Having enjoyed Chemistry so thoroughly in High School and having passed the AP test, I pursued it as a focus for my tutoring. While my interest in the sciences had grown and blossomed over the years, my college experience of taking various classes to satisfy general education requirements dramatically changed my academic pathway.

I ended up taking a course in Classical Greek Mythology, as it was a unit in Middle School that I happened to enjoy quite a bit. My professor was truly inspiring and after multiple conversations with her it came to my attention that one could major in something called Classical Civilizations. Once that came to my attention it was inevitable, I marched down to the office and officially changed my major. I remained enrolled in the peer tutoring program, but shifted my focus to content areas such as Ancient History & Literature, Art History (my minor), Latin, and Ancient Greek. It was an absolutely incredible experience to truly love what I was studying, and on top of that I had the opportunity to support my peers while channeling the same passion and enthusiasm I had witnessed from the professor who had so profoundly impacted me on so many levels.

My junior year at UC Davis was a huge turning point in my professional journey. I was looking for a Summer job and ended up being hired as a clinician at Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes. The position entailed conducting 1:1 sessions with students, most of whom had various degrees of learning challenges, and implementing research-based intensive programs for reading, spelling, comprehension, and math. My passion for education is what drove me to apply, but it was my role in profoundly changing the lives of countless students and families that would keep me there for over 10 years. I began as a clinician, but quickly experienced success and was promoted to the consultant position, which charged me with overseeing the instruction for a large group of students. In the years following I would again be promoted to Associate Center Director, and ultimately finished out my time as a Center Director. The skills I developed, the expertise that I crafted, and the experience that I gained was simply priceless. Having a hand in dramatically altering the trajectory of these students' lives and opening up future opportunities for them was a dream come true.

Now here we are, present time. I am currently the Learning Specialist for grades 9 & 10 at Milken Community School, a prestigious private school here in Los Angeles. My desire and commitment to supporting students has not wavered. Every day I look forward to stepping onto campus knowing that I will be spending my time having a profoundly positive impact on these students, ensuring that I am helping them achieve their fullest potential, now and always. This is why I founded Capstone. I look forward to working with your student and continuing what has been, and always will be, my life's work.
